Directable Motion Texture Synthesis

چکیده

We present an algorithm for creating animation by keyframing, stylistic sequencing, random sampling, or by a combination of these methods. We first “learn” a motion model from existing animation data (such as motion capture), and optionally label specific frames as corresponding to specific “styles.” The system can then generate a new motion in the style of the training data, but matching the pose constraints and/or style constraints specified by an animator. Realistic motion in animation is difficult to synthesize—it often requires either specific physical calculations based on the character being animated, or it must be hand-generated or captured. Animations are used, however, in a number of applications that would benefit from a more general approach to creating realistic motion, e.g. in video games that require constraints over terrain, keyframes, and general style, but have no restrictions on specific paths, locations, or characters. We propose a method for motion synthesis that, given a character’s hierarchical skeleton and bone lengths, will generate realistic motion similar, but not limited to, the content of sample motions. The new motion may also be constrained by keyframed location/orientation values and stylistic content.

In Search of Textons

Texture analysis and synthesis has been studied extensively by many vision and graphics researchers. A very useful concept in texture analysis is texton or the basic element of a texture image. However, it remains unclear how to define a texton despite the fact that Julesz proposed the term ”texton” more than twenty years ago. In this talk, I will propose a two-level statistical model with text...

Dynamic Texture Synthesis Using Motion Distribution Statistics

In this paper we propose a motion based approach for synthesizing dynamic textures. Dynamic textures are natural phenomenon characterized by their distinctive motion patterns. Synthesis of these textures is thus considered as the regeneration of a motion pattern that has identical motion distribution of a source texture. In this paper we propose a synthesis technique where new textures are gene...

Generalized Directable Fuzzy Automata

In this paper, we introduce generalized directable fuzzy automaton and discuss their structural characterizations. We have shown that a generalized directable fuzzy automaton is an extension of a uniformly monogenically strongly directable fuzzy automaton by a uniformly monogenically trap-directable fuzzy automaton and obtain other equivalent conditions for a generalized directable fuzzy automa...

Motion Texture

Motion capture data is often used in movies and video games because it is able to realistically depict human motion. One of its greatest limitations is the inflexibility for reuse in different projects. To get the exact shot that you would like requires an individual motion capture session. This is not only costly but time consuming as well. We would like to be able to easily take existing data...

Video Compression : Wavelet Based Coding and Texture Synthesis Based Coding

This report introduces the emerging Wavelet-based video coding system. Inefficiency of the block-based motion estimation in context of the wavelet coder is discussed in comparison to the mesh-based approach. A progressive mesh refinement technique using multiple layers is proposed also a fast motion estimation based on the redundant wavelet is presented that outperforms a full-search motion est...
